How It Works

STEP 1
We receive client referral from the attorney, family member, friend, or the person themself
STEP 2
RCBF Intake Call
We bail out whomever we can based on funds available in the jurisdictions we serve, regardless of the charge or criminal history.*
STEP 3
Once we have verified that bail is the only thing preventing release, we go to the jail to pay it
STEP 4
Follow up with clients to offer short-term post-release support as needed.
STEP 5
Bail refunded to RCBF upon case disposition
STEP 6
Returned funds reused for new client

*We do not currently have capacity to post ICE bonds. If you need support with an ICE bond, please complete a referral form with the Richmond Community Legal Fund or the National Bail Fund Network.

RBCF currently posts bonds for individuals in Chesterfield County Jail, Henrico County Regional Jail West, Henrico County Regional Jail East, Richmond City Jail, Riverside Regional Jail, and Pamunkey Regional Jail.
